|Effective Time Management Tactics For Property Managers
Being a property manager means wearing many hats throughout the day and month. Depending on the size of your organizations, you may need to be in charge of making sure maintainence is taken care of, working with vendors, dealing with lawyers, and even showing the properties. It's a very hectic schedule for many property managers. Fortunately there are things that have been proven as effective time managment practices that you should be putting into place as soon as possible.
Many times we get ourselves into a daily routine, which can be helpful sometimes, but can also lead to distraction other times. As a position with many responsibilities, you may want to try putting the most important tasks at the beginning of the day. This helps put you in a better frame of mind from a priority perspective. The last thing you want at the end of the day is an important task that is not done yet, which could have been done earlier.
Making a list has become a staple of time and priority management gurus lately. The effectiveness of knowing what you have to do and when can be an extremely effective way of making sure the important taks get done, and what can put put off. It also helps avoid distractaions when you know exactly what is coming next, and when.
Try scheduling your time in blocks. Create a task list where you know approximately how long each taks will take, then group your tasks into things you can accomplish while at the office for instance vs out at the properties. Many times, property managers tend to want to "put out fires" first. However delegating if possible would be a good way to stay within your blocked out schedule, and not worry about others requests, no matter the time of day.
